Job Overview:
Red Vacuums is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sales Associate to join our team. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for selling a wide range of vacuum cleaners, floor care products, and related services, while delivering an exceptional customer experience. Your role will involve assisting customers in choosing the right products, demonstrating product features, and ensuring a clean and organized store. You will also support store goals and sales targets, engage in suggestive selling, and help with inventory management and store maintenance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service Excellence:

    • Greet customers promptly, acknowledging them within a close radius (10 ft.) or within 10 seconds of their arrival.
    • Engage customers in conversation to determine their needs and recommend suitable products, such as vacuums and floor care solutions.
    • Provide product demonstrations and explain the features, benefits, and value of products to ensure customers make informed purchasing decisions.
    • Suggest additional items and services to complement the customer's initial purchase, increasing sales opportunities.
    • Advise customers on product maintenance and proper usage to ensure longevity.
    • Handle customer complaints and returns graciously and professionally.
    • Learn how to diagnose a vacuum issue and estimate a repair and service.
    • Be able to make accurate register transactions such as: cash, checks and credit cards when access to POS system is provided.
  • Sales and Upselling:

    • Strive to meet or exceed personal and store sales targets by recommending complementary products and services.
    • Work with our team to achieve Store's sales plan. Strive to achieve individual sales plan.
    • Ensure each sale aligns with company programs, including promotions, warranties, and delivery options.
    • Participate in product-specific sales programs and customer loyalty efforts to drive sales.
  • Inventory and Store Maintenance:

    • Assist with the organization, stocking, and display of merchandise, ensuring products are easy to find and well-presented.
    • Maintain clean, organized store spaces, including backroom, bathroom and customer-facing areas.
    • Contribute to regular inventory control, including inputting products into the system, labeling SKUs, and assisting with stock replenishment.
    • Handle the check-in process for repairs and services, ensuring proper documentation and communication with customers.
    • Know where the products are located within the store.
    • Be aware of current promotional items and the correct pricing.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of store products and services, including current promotions, pricing, and available inventory.
    • Maintain sales records and assist in the bi-weekly inventory control
    • Assist with entering of inventory in the system assigning a SKU number to each item before organizing and distributing the shipments.
    • Assist in displaying and organizing of inventory
  • Customer Interaction:

    • Answer customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-store, providing timely and accurate information.
    • Be proactive in offering suggestions for repairs and product enhancements, ensuring customers leave with everything they need.
    • Follow-up and make sure the returns and refunds are in process and complete
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Treat your team members, customers and vendors with respect and in a friendly and professional manner. 
    • Work collaboratively with fellow team members to meet store goals and deliver excellent customer service.
    • Assist with opening and closing duties and follow all operational procedures, including store cleaning, surface areas sanitizing and maintenance each day.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 1+ year of experience in sales, particularly within home appliances or vacuums, is preferred.
    • Previous experience with customer-facing roles, especially in a retail setting, is a plus.
  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage customers and provide helpful, friendly service.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to manage inventory and store layout efficiently.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and stand for extended periods.
    • Comfortable working with a POS system and processing various payment methods (cash, credit, checks).
    • Flexible schedule, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of vacuum cleaners, floor care products, or home appliance repairs is a plus.
  • A minimum of high school education is required for this position.
  • Friendly, kind, positive personality, personable.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work a standard workday as set by Store Manager.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be proficient in English. Bilingual skills are a bonus for helping a broader customer base.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned.
