Is It Harmful To Breathe The Air After Using A Vacuum Cleaner?

Vacuum cleaners have come a long way from the bulky and noisy machines they used to be only a few decades back. Modern vacuum cleaners are not only a lot more efficient but also offer the benefit of compact design and being lightweight. However, the one doubt that continues to linger in the minds of many people about these appliances is about the quality of air they leave behind. Countless people across the globe put across the common question of whether or not it is safe to breathe in the air of space immediately after a vacuum cleaner is used there.

Is It Safe?

Most vacuum cleaners available in the market today are extremely advanced and built using latest technology. There are rarely any cleaners that do not come with a state-of-the-art filtration system. This system is designed to not only trap the sucked up dust and dirt inside the vacuum bags, but also to remove pollen and allergens from the air that might be polluting it.

So there is no doubt about the fact that breathing in the air within a space that has just been cleaned with the help of a good quality vacuum cleaner is perfectly healthy and safe. In fact, most branded cleaners use the HEPA or other such innovative air filtration systems, that make it safe to use the cleaner even when people with respiratory and asthmatic issues.

Why The Question?

Having been assured about the quality of air left behind after vacuuming, it is natural for users to consider why the doubt was raised in the first place.Well, to answer this question, it is important to understand that vacuum cleaners were not always so sophisticated and clean. Cleaners of only a few decades earlier did not offer the facility of air filtration and were not even able to remove air pollutants. In fact the earliest cleaners did not even have a sealed dust bag and even the cleaning attachments were not as sophisticated and fine as are provided with modern appliances.

It was quite common for a small amount of the dust and dirt picked up by the earlier cleaners to leak back into the air. Since this dust would be in more concentrated form, it generally caused immediate allergies and reactions to people in the vicinity. However, with the advances in technology and the growing competition, led the vacuum cleaning brands led the vacuum cleaner brands to focus on removing these drawbacks. This in turn led to making the modern vacuums the perfect tools for hygienic and effortless cleaning.
